Object of the Game
Be the first to reach an agreed upon score or have the highest number of goals after a set period of time by knocking the puck into the goal using Direct Shots, Bank Shots off the sideboards, or Double Bank Shots off the corner and goal blocks.
Set Up
-
Place the Nok Hockey board on a flat surface.
-
Ensure each player has a stick and a clear position directly behind their goal.
-
Place the puck at the center face-off spot to start the game.
Gameplay
-
The game begins with a face-off: one player drops the puck at the center face-off spot.
-
Players can only hit the puck when it is in:
-
Their defense zone (the area between the black line and their goal).
-
The center free-play area.
-
Players cannot hit the puck when it is in their opponent’s defense zone.
-
If the puck goes out of bounds, it is returned to play from the defense area of the opponent responsible for the out-of-bounds shot.
-
Players must stay directly behind their goal; playing from the sides of the arena is not allowed.
Scoring
-
Each goal is worth one point, regardless of the type of shot.
-
Players or teams can set a winning total before the game begins.
How to Win
Traditionally, the first player or team to reach the agreed-upon total score wins the game.
Alternatively, you may set a time limit for the game, and when time is up, whoever has the highest score will be declared winner.
Tips & Tricks
-
Use a Flicking Motion: Use quick, flicking movements with your stick for better control and fast shots. Avoid long, sweeping motions that make it harder to aim.
-
Control Over Power: Instead of hitting the puck as hard as possible, focus on controlled shots. Hitting too hard increases your chances of missing or ricocheting off unintended spots.
-
Practice Angles: Learn how the puck rebounds off the walls. Use bank shots to bypass your opponent's defenses and aim for the goal.
-
Positioning Matters: Stay slightly back from the puck to maintain better control and react to unexpected moves.
-
Watch Your Opponent: Look for patterns in their playstyle. If they favor a specific type of shot or angle, anticipate and prepare for it.
- Don't Rush: Quick, random shots are easier to block. Take your time to line up your angles and plan your attack.
