    José Manuel Cruz is an artist from Newark, NJ, whose “ColoRican” style reflects his Colombian and Puerto Rican heritage. Working across mediums such as spray paint and enamel markers, he creates vibrant compositions defined by bold color and dynamic linework, guided by a commitment to continual experimentation.

    An art educator for over 35 years, Cruz has earned international recognition, including a 2016 social justice work acquired by the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum and a 2019 retrospective at North Carolina Central University’s Art Museum. He continues to exhibit nationally and internationally.
